Plastic outdoor chairs are among the most common objects in the world, and among the least loved. Their form is usually dictated by cost alone.
Kaze, designed by Oscar Chang with Jialiang Guo, gives the type a more expressive shape. It was a winner in the outdoor chairs category at the 2026 European Product Design Award.
The chair translates the movement of wind across sand into form. Its curved backrest flows into the arms and down into tapered legs, creating an embracing posture.
Support and structure are integrated rather than added. The same continuous curves that give the chair its character also carry the load.
It is made by single-piece injection moulding in fully recycled polypropylene. There is nothing to assemble, and it is durable both indoors and outside. A discreet drainage opening stops rainwater collecting.
Kaze balances fluid geometry with efficient production, proving that an everyday chair can still have a sense of movement.
