Paper lamps have a long domestic history. They are light, soft in the light they give, and easy to live with, which is why they keep returning.
Blossoms, designed by Shixiao Feng for Zui Lighting, builds on that familiarity with a modular system of paper and metal elements. Owners assemble the luminaire themselves and can arrange it to suit the room it is going into. It received a Top Design distinction for sustainable home products at the 2026 European Product Design Award.
The modular approach turns a fixed lamp into a set of parts. A cluster can be sized to a ceiling or a corner rather than chosen from a catalogue of finished dimensions.
The less visible feature is in the paper itself. According to Zui Lighting, the light-transmitting sheet incorporates a nano-scale treatment that reacts with light to remove formaldehyde from the air, an effect the brand says lasts for twelve months. The lamp is meant to contribute to a healthier room simply by being switched on.
That ambition gives the familiar paper shade a new kind of purpose. Blossoms keeps the warmth people expect from the material while asking it to do slightly more.
It is a domestic object that wants to be useful in more than one way, without looking any less gentle for it.
